Eligibility criteria for applicants
To be considered eligible for the Young Scientist Award, potential candidates must meet ALL criteria indicated below:
- The candidate should be citizen of one of the project target countries (Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia or Morocco), and live in one of those countries.
- The candidate should have no more than 35 years of age as of the 1st. of January 2007.
- The candidate should have one of the following academic/research status: M. Sc. student, PhD student or Post-doc.
- The works eligible for participation are: PhD thesis, Review paper (e.g. on work done in the frame of PhD), or Research paper.
- The work should be conducted in (or in cooperation with) an institution from one of the countries belonging to the region A or B.
- The research field of the work submitted should focus on membrane technologies for water and wastewater treatment, reclamation and reuse:
- Technology used: Reverse osmosis, Nanofiltration, Ultrafiltration and Microfiltration, Dialysis or Membrane bioreactor (combination of membrane filtration and bioreactor).
- Final application: Drinking water, Municipal and/or industrial treatment and reuse, Surface water, Desalinisation.
- The candidate´s work should address one or several project target countries (Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia or Morocco).
- All information and documents requested for the first-step of the evaluation should be provided in English.
- Documents requested in the second-step of the evaluation could be submitted in English, Arabic or French.
